A-VOX is a vocal & singing studio in Bermondsey, just minutes from London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Borough Market, Bankside and Southwark. We offer 1-to-1 singing lessons and vocal lessons in central London for adults, teenagers and children — whatever your level, whatever style of music you love. Most students who book through this page are beginners or returning singers. If you’re looking for more technique-focused work with a professional vocal coach, see our dedicated vocal coach in central London page.
Singing lessons London — find your voice, in any style
Pop, soul, musical theatre, jazz, classical, indie, R&B, contemporary, songwriter — there's no "right" style at A-VOX. Lessons are built around the music you actually want to sing. If you love Adele, we'll work on Adele. If you love Sondheim, we'll work on Sondheim. The technique is the same; the repertoire is yours.
For students working towards auditions, gigs, drama school applications or just the goal of singing comfortably with friends — every lesson is tailored to where you're going.
What you'll work on in vocal lessons London
Singing well is a craft, and the building blocks are the same whether you're learning your first scale or refining an existing performance career:
- Breath and support — the foundation of everything else. Where the breath comes from, how it sustains a phrase, and why a relaxed body sings better than a tense one.
- Range — extending your comfortable range up and down without strain, and understanding the registers (chest, mix, head) so you can move between them deliberately.
- Resonance and tone — using the physical structure of your voice to produce the sound you actually want, rather than fighting against it.
- Articulation and diction — being heard, and being understood, without losing the legato line.
- Confidence and stage presence — the part of singing that happens between your ears. Performance, microphone technique, eye contact, dealing with nerves.
- Repertoire — choosing songs that suit your voice now and stretch it intelligently.
Who books singing classes London with us
Complete beginners are the heart of what we do — many adults who walk into the studio for the first time have never sung in front of anyone before. That's fine. The first lesson is a conversation, not a test. There's no "right" voice, no expectation that you can already read music, and absolutely no pressure to perform.
At the other end, we work with gigging artists, drama school applicants and professional performers who need someone in their corner to keep their technique sharp and their repertoire fresh.
Children from age 8 and teenagers are welcome too — we're particularly experienced with neurodivergent young learners (read about our neurodivergent-friendly approach) and ADHD/autism-friendly accommodations.
Our approach
Every lesson is 1-to-1, in a calm, acoustically-treated room with a digital piano and professional mic setup. Lessons are built around you, not a curriculum — we'll find the technique your voice needs rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all method. Oleksandra is certified in the Estill Voice Training methodology, so the work is anatomically informed and evidence-based, but the studio feels nothing like a classroom.
The atmosphere is deliberately gentle. The lighting is soft, the studio is private, there's no audience — it's a place to make mistakes, try things, fail kindly and keep going. That matters most for beginners and for anyone with vocal anxiety from school choirs or past teachers.
Your first lesson
A trial lesson is £20 for 30 minutes. We'll have a chat about what you want to work on, do a short warm-up to hear your voice, and try one or two simple exercises so you can feel what regular lessons would be like. Nothing more — no rigid format, no homework, no pressure to commit. If it clicks, we book ongoing lessons. If it doesn't, no obligation.
From there, single 60-minute lessons are £60, and blocks of 4 (£220) or 8 (£360) bring the cost down further. See the full pricing breakdown on the home page.
Why students choose A-VOX for singing lessons London
We're the only vocal studio in Bermondsey offering Estill-trained 1-to-1 coaching in a fully acoustically-treated room at this price point. Most central London vocal coaches operate from shared rehearsal spaces or charge £80+ per hour. A-VOX exists because Oleksandra wanted to offer professional-grade vocal coaching in a setting that doesn't feel intimidating.
If you've ever wanted to start singing lessons in London but felt put off by overly formal music schools, big franchises or unclear pricing — A-VOX is the antidote to that.
